I'm back!!!

To running!! Well, I hope so anyway. Almost exactly 5 months ago I went out for a long training run. 11 miles later I came limping back, barely able to walk. Diagnosis~ stress fracture in my hip. My ortho doctor told me no running for a minimum of 6 weeks. No biggie, I thought. I have had to take that long off running before.

6 weeks later I was still having pain with walking. I got a second opinion. I begged for a cortisone shot. Nope. I could do nothing but wait. After 4 months I couldn't take it anymore. I slowly started back. I was still having tightness in my hip, but figured the fracture just had to be better. I still feel a twinge here and there, but it seems to be improving.

And now? I feel great! I am still taking it slow, only running 3 days a week, about 20 miles/ week. I have run a few times with my running group, which was great. Today I did 8 miles at a 8:44 pace. Woo hoo!

I am not sure how many miles I will ultimately be able to do. I am hoping to try again to train for a marathon, but who knows. For now, I am just happy to be running. Pete is happy too, because I am sure he was tired of hearing me moan and groan constantly!
