Way to go Zach!!

Zach has been active in karate for the last 3 years, achieving his red-black belt last November. He has been working for his black belt the last 6 months. He has been so excited for his black belt testing coming up in a few weeks. Not only has he had to learn the karate, but he also had to write 6 essays and be prepared to answer multiple questions. Last Saturday was the pretest for the tryouts, something that was just reinstated for this group of kids. I was a nervous wreck!! We were told that not every person would pass, and would have to wait 3 months to try again. As a parent how do you prepare your child for that? I didn't want him to assume he would be allowed to test, on the other hand, I didn't want to freak him out. I made a general statement to him that not everyone would pass, just do his best. I was so proud of him!! It seemed to me that he did well, but what do I know? We had to sweat it out for 2 days before getting the congratulatory email. He did it!! Now on to the actual test!!

It's so nice seeing the smiles on their faces -- your son and your husband. Their joy and excitement leap off the page.

Congratulations!
