Since we we
re way too busy last week to celebrate Joey's birthday, we had his party this past Friday. He invited 3 of his best friends, and I took them all to see the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. I have to admit, I really enjoyed it!
After the movie it was home for pizza. Pete heated up the hot tub and the boys all went for a dip. They were even jumping in the big pool, which had to be around 50 degrees! We were afraid one of the boys was going to go into shock and sink to the bottom. Lord knows I didn't want to jump in after anyone!
The boys rounded out the evening with plenty of computer games and of course, Lego Rock Band.
Lights out was a very reasonable 11 pm. I was surprised at how quickly they quieted down and fell asleep. I was just as surprised to hear them up before 6 am! Blech!
Here is Joey with his birthday cake. The initials stand for the names of the boys--Hayden, Dustin and Corey. I tried to match the frosting color to the color of the boys' hair. They got a kick out of seeing which one was them.
The head is a mini vanilla wafer, the body and pillow a cut marshmallow. The blankets are rolled out Starburst candy. All in all an easy and fun cake to make.

I love the Teddy Graham teddy bear. That's a Teddy Graham, right? Awesome job, as usual!
What fun! I am looking forward to the day when we have a small scale party. I just don't think we are there yet.
Love the cake. Rolled out Starbucks candy? You are amazing. I thought it was fondant.
Very cute cake. I am hoping some day you will make me a cake. Mmmm I wonder what it would be? Love Mom
make your mom a cake, already!
That sounds like such a great birthday celebration! And that cake...well I'm always impressed with your baked goods. Mine never look so pretty, but I guess I should be grateful that at least they taste okay.
